It’s no secret that Abercrombie has upped its game lately. The erstwhile food-court stalwart kicked off the rebrand of all rebrands in the early 2020s, replacing all those hardened abs and logo-heavy sweatshirts with reliably directional basics we can actually get behind. Which helps explain how, exactly, it came to release this Elordi-tier overcoat, which also happens to be on sale right now.
January is an especially savvy time to shop for outerwear of every stripe: not only is it cold out (obviously), a huge amount of jackets, coats, and parkas tend to go on sale with plenty of time left in the season to actually wear ’em.
Case in point? That aforementioned Abercrombie overcoat, an absolutely stunner of a layer done up in a wooly herringbone pattern and priced at a mere $175. The beauty of this specific coat is its utter wearability. It’s not too polished to throw over a tee and jeans, and not too casual to layer over a nubby tweed suit, say, the one time a month you actually have to wear one.
It’s sharp, versatile, and mercifully simple. And like all of the best overcoats, it’s seriously beefy, hits below the knee, and doesn’t skimp on the cozy factor—or the size of its lapels. There are plenty of other coats on sale right now, if you know where to look. Even if, like me, you’re feeling a little light of wallet in the immediate aftermath of the holidays, there’s no shortage of budget treasure to be unearthed. This Abercrombie joint is just one of those gems, but it might be the most major.
