Playboi Carti paid homage to the late King of Pop at a recent New York show on his ongoing Antagonist 2.0 tour.
As seen in photos shared to Carti’s Opium Finsta, the MUSIC artist opted for a decidedly Michael Jackson-inspired look for the sold-out tour stop. In the caption of the post, Carti shouted out the 13-time Grammy winner, whose untimely death at the age of 50 shocked the world in 2009.
“REAL HEDI MJ THRILLER MF,” Carti wrote.
The homage is well-timed, as Lionsgate recently released the first teaser trailer for Michael, Training Day filmmaker Antoine Fuqua’s long-teased biopic on the beloved artist. Starring in the 2026 film is Jaafar Jackson, MJ’s nephew, who’s joined in the cast by Nia Long and Colman Domingo, among other familiar faces. As previously reported, Fuqua has described Michael as “the motion picture event that explores the journey of the man who became the King of Pop.”
Carti’s Antagonist 2.0 tour continues Friday (Nov. 7) in Newark before moving on to Hartford this weekend. Additional cities slated to welcome Carti in the coming days include Philadelphia, Raleigh, Houston, Nashville, and Atlanta.
Earlier this month, Carti’s Mitchell & Ness NBA League Collection was unveiled, followed by a full-fledged launch on Complex and Fanatics (and elsewhere). Teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Toronto Raptors are featured in the collection.
