Nike Tech fleece jackets are seeing a spike in popularity online following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Saturday (Jan. 3).
President Donald Trump shared an image to Truth Social showing Maduro in custody. In the photo, Maduro wore what appears to be a Nike Tech garment while being transported on the USS Iwo Jima to New York City.
Maduro was detained on Jan. 3 in Caracas, Venezuela, after his compound was stormed by US Delta Force operators. In the indictment for the charges brought forth by the Southern District of New York, the Venezuelan president is alleged to have run a “corrupt, illegitimate government” which has “leveraged government power to protect and promote illegal activity, including drug trafficking.”
“In sum, Maduro Moros and his co-conspirators have, for decades, partnered with some of the most violent and prolific drug traffickers and narco-terrorists in the world, and relied on corrupt officials throughout the region, to distribute tons of cocaine to the United States,” the indictment states.
Maduro and his wife, Guerrero Flores, are currently facing a list of charges that include narco-terrorism conspiracy, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and cocaine importation conspiracy.
These charges were previously brought against Maduro and nearly a dozen others by the Southern District of New York in 2020. They now include his wife and son, Nicolás Ernesto Maduro Guerra.
“They will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts,” wrote Attorney General Pam Bondi on X.
