Lionel Messi has built a career on precision, consistency, and global appeal—and those same ideas are now shaping his latest move away from the pitch.
According to WWD, the soccer superstar’s fragrance brand is officially stepping into mass retail, marking a new chapter for Messi Fragrance as it rolls out nationwide through Walmart.
The expansion centers on Messi Sport, a new lineup featuring three scents—Red, Black, and Silver—available as both body sprays and eau de toilette.
Each fragrance is designed to hit a different note without overcomplicating the formula. Red blends bright citrus with herbal accents, anchored by patchouli, cedarwood, and white musk. Black leans warmer and deeper, mixing vetiver and cedarwood with tonka bean and vanilla. Silver aims for versatility, described as a clean, everyday scent built around anise, leather, and guaiac wood.
The brand is also emphasizing value through sizing. The body sprays come in 6.7-ounce canisters—larger than many comparable options—while the eau de toilette is offered in a 1.7-ounce bottle, positioning the line as both accessible and practical for daily use.
MESSI Platinum Eau de Parfum is the newest fragrance from global icon Leo Messi. MESSI Platinum is available exclusively at more than 600 JCPenney Beauty locations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Designed for the person who wants a scent that feels confident, MESSI Platinum opens with vibrant bergamot peel, fresh water, and a touch of green coconut.
The heart blends violet leaf, lavender, and clary sage, settling into a grounded finish of vetiver root, teak wood, and mineral amber. It’s a refined aromatic profile built for evening wear and celebration. Each bottle is housed in a platinum-finished design that mirrors the scent’s elevated, modern edge.
According to Rhian Joseph, creative lead for Messi Fragrances at Game On Product Group, the Walmart partnership represents a strategic shift. “By entering the masstige category, we’re making quality, authenticity, and performance more accessible to a broader audience,” Joseph told Women’s Wear Daily.
Messi Fragrance was first introduced in January 2024 at Cosmoprof North America, with Game On Product Group handling global distribution. Until now, the lineup focused on eau de parfums and gift sets sold primarily through JCPenney.
Off the shelves and back on the field, Messi has also been in headline form. Earlier this month, he recorded two assists to help Inter Miami secure its first-ever MLS Cup.
