Happy Hours: Everything We Know About the Upcoming Trilogy Reuniting Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson

Happy Hours is big news for those of us who grew up dreaming of a love like Joey and Pacey’s from Dawson’s Creek. That’s because the upcoming movie trilogy is reuniting the actors who played them, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson, who are once again putting their inimitable onscreen chemistry to work as the lovers at the center of the Happy Hours films. The pair have already been seen filming the movies in New York City, looking just as perfect together as ever.

Holmes is also writing and directing the three films, in addition to starring, and clearly cast Jackson for a reason. (We know they dated for a year in the ’90s, but we’re not even gonna go there.) In an Instagram post promoting the project, she wrote, “I am so very grateful to be working again with so many of my wonderful friends on this film HAPPY HOURS. And working with Josh after so many years is a testament to friendship. HAPPY HOURS is a love story that includes so many people I adore. We can’t wait for everyone to see what we make.”

What is Happy Hours about?

According to the official description as reported by Deadline, it is “a story about two people (Jackson and Holmes) navigating their relationship within the challenges of careers and family responsibilities and the pursuit of love, despite life’s inevitable obstacles. It’s a character-driven dramedy that explores the emotional journey of young loves who reconnect as adults, with the connective thread of shared joys, loss, and hope.”

With the context of knowing the films are a trilogy, the description sounds a bit like the Before Sunrise franchise, minus the European cities. So, you know, nothing too devastating. *Sniffle.*

Who is in the cast?

In addition to Holmes and Jackson, Deadline reports, the films will star Mary-Louise Parker, Constance Wu, Joe Tippett, John McGinty, Donald Webber Jr., Nathan Darrow, Johnna Dias-Watson, and Jack Martin.
