Glamour: Your breakdown at the end of episode six was so poignant. Tell me about filming that scene with Sarah Jessica Parker.
Kristin Davis: Thank you. I’m so relieved to hear it because I was really concerned, and I’ll tell you why. That scene was originally scheduled for somewhere around the week of July 4, 2024, but I got COVID. We were supposed to film that scene the first up of the day, which meant you have to go to work at four in the morning to be ready for when the light comes up. At maybe three in the morning, I woke up with a big fever. I was panicked, like, “Oh, my God, Sarah Jessica is going to be there getting ready, and I can’t go!” I had to hug her and everything in the scene. And I was like, “I can’t hug Sarah Jessica when I have COVID. I was like, we’re in the middle of the season. This would be terrible.”
Definitely. It’s still so contagious. You did the right thing.
So, I’m frantically texting everybody in the middle of the night, like, “I have COVID. What do I do?” I was so panicked. Because I couldn’t film that day, we had to punt, as we call it. We had to punt that scene down the schedule, and it ended up literally being the last week of filming.
Wow.
I thought to myself, “Am I still in the place that I need to be to do the scene effectively?” I’d had to already film all the other episodes. I was super worried that I was not in the right place, so I’m happy that you liked it.
Oh, it is like a gut punch. I think we can all relate to Charlotte there, because we’ve all been in a moment where you’re trying to hold it all together but then the floodgates open.
I can certainly relate to that. I thought it was so great, really, because Charlotte has been carrying this weight. She’s trying to take care of Harry and do what he wants her to do and what he needs her to do, but at the same time, it’s not what’s good for her. It’s killing her to keep that secret. So the fact that she runs into Carrie, and that Carrie sees through her, is such a gift to Charlotte. I just love the season so much, so I’m happy that we’re getting to show it to people.
