The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood doesn’t regret calling out Saturday Night Live over a “mean and unfunny” sketch poking fun at her appearance.
On April 12, the season three breakout star called out the comedy show for taking “cheap” shots at her looks and accent in a sketch called “The White Potus,” which reimagined the series with members of the Trump family and other prominent political figures.
Though SNL tapped recurring White Lotus actor Jon Gries to appear in the sketch, Wood’s character Chelsea was satirized by comedian Sarah Sherman, who wore a set of large fake teeth and asked Jon Hamm’s Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about fluoride, a chemical found in oral care products.
Needless to say, Aimee Lou Wood was not a fan of the sketch, calling it “mean and unfunny” in an Instagram story, adding, “Felt righteous might delete later.”
In another slide, she added, “Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago. Yes, take the piss for sure—that’s what the show is about—but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?”
