Jordan Brand has unveiled its Generational Greatness campaign centered around the launch of the upcoming “Reverse Infrared” Air Jordan 6 colorway, officially dubbed “Salesman.”
According to the brand, there are several changes introduced to this year’s Air Jordan 6 retros as compared to previous versions. The upcoming black and Infrared-colored “Salesman” Air Jordan 6 features a newly updated shape that closely resembles the OG releases from 1991. The redesign includes a reworked construction on the interiors as well as a higher tongue height to match the version MJ wore on the court, as compared to recent retros.
Additionally, the toe box is more slanted, which creates a more direct angle from the top of the shoe. Jordan Brand says it also compared and “reverse engineered” the ’91 and ’00 versions to ensure that the Infrared hue on the latest pair matches the original.
As for this particular colorway, as the story goes, this version of the “Black Infrared” Air Jordan 6 was first spotted as a sample in the brand’s 1999 salesman catalog and featured a flipped black and infrared blocking on the midsole. Giving this sneaker a sample-like aesthetic on the upcoming release are the included factory hangtag and “Not for Resale” text printed on the interior.
For this campaign, Jordan Brand has also relaunched its classic “Genie” commercial from 1991, which can be seen in the image below. Actress Niecy Nash has been cast as the genie, replacing the late musician Little Richard in the original ad.
Readers will be able to cop the “Salesman” Air Jordan 6 on Feb. 14 at Nike.com and at select Jordan Brand stockists.
