Nike has unveiled two new silhouettes to its revamped performance running range with the introduction of the Vaporfly 4 and the Streakfly 2.
The Swoosh confirmed that the latest Vaporfly shoe is the lightest model in the franchise’s history, while still retaining the signature ZoomX foam and a carbon fiber Flyplate in the midsole. The Vaporfly 4 is also equipped with an updated upper designed to increase comfort and shed additional weight on the shoe.
“The Vaporfly 4 is the ideal Vaporfly. Nike nailed it,” Canadian long-distance runner Mohammed Ahmed said. “There are so many aspects I love about this shoe: It’s lighter than its previous iteration, more responsive, gives a comfortable ride, has a stable feel, and offers a great fit. Simply put, it’s the perfect combination of carbon to foam in this shoe to date. I love running fast in this shoe.”
According to Nike, the Streakfly 2 incorporates various design elements pulled from the Vaporfly, with the full-length Flyplate tucked within the ZoomX midsole. The upper has been redesigned with a new engineered mesh upper and updated lacing system to give wearers a more custom fit.
Both the Nike Vaporfly 4 and the Streakfly 2 will be released starting in March at Nike.com and at select Nike retailers in the white-based “Proto” and red “Race Day” colorways.
