LeBron James and his battles with the Boston Celtics are arguably some of the most significant in his 23-year career, so it makes sense that Nike is referencing the franchise on an upcoming LeBron 23 colorway.
Specifically, this “Green With Envy” LeBron 23 appears to reference a post-game incident between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics during Game 6 of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals, where a fan poured beer on James as he was walking to the tunnel. The sneaker has a can pull tab on the heel as well as droplets on the tongue. The rest of the shoe dons a green-based color scheme offset by an iridescent mudguard.
In that game, James scored a game-high 45 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and had 5 assists. The Heat would beat the Celtics in that series in the following game before beating the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games in the Finals.
At the time of writing, the “Green With Envy” LeBron 23 release has yet to be announced by Nike. Check back soon for updates.
