The beloved “Grinch” Nike Kobe 6 that Kobe Bryant himself wore during the 2010 NBA Christmas game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat is hitting the auction block.
Pharrell Williams’ Joopiter auction house has confirmed that it will be auctioning off Bryant’s only game-worn “Grinch” Kobe 6 from the aforementioned game. It’s worth mentioning that both the left and right shoes were also signed by Bryant. This green-based “Grinch” colorway of Bryant’s sixth signature shoe is arguably the most iconic style in his footwear line, which is why the auction house is projecting that this lot is expected to go for at least $10 million.
“Joopiter is proud to introduce an item that transcends sneakers, sport, fashion, pop culture, and even collecting as we have traditionally known it,” Joopiter’s global head of sales, Caitlin Donovan, said. “It is the physical origin of one of the most important moments in modern basketball and sneaker history, compressed into a single artifact, an opportunity for collectors to own an object of this magnitude come once in a lifetime.”
The viewings for Bryant’s “Grinch” Kobe 6 will be available from Dec. 15 to Dec. 19 at Canon Collectibles in Beverly Hills, with viewings by appointment only through the holidays. Grab a closer look at the sneaker below.
