The Los Angeles Kings and Interscope Records have partnered up in dedication to a classic 2Pac album.
In time for their Saturday, March 15 game against the Nashville Predators, a Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory – LA Kings Edition vinyl version of 2Pac’s 1996 posthumous album will be available. In addition, a four-piece merch collection will be stocked at the Team LA store at the Crypto.com Arena, while 2Pac selections and music videos will be played throughout the game.
The vinyl cover shows a 1991 photo, taken by Peter Darley Miller, of the late rapper-actor donning an LA Kings cap. The picture was also taken in the same year that the team won their sole division title.
In partnership with New Era, Interscope recreated the hat from the picture and added 2Pac’s logo to its side. Mitchell & Ness created a sweatshirt featuring the 2Pac x LA Kings logo and a t-shirt featuring the archival photo.
Originally released on Nov. 5, 1996, roughly two months after 2Pac was fatally shot at 25 years old, Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory was released under his Makaveli alter ego. The album, which has since been certified four times platinum, debuted atop the Billboard 200.
In addition to the Killuminati vinyl (numbered at 3,000 units), 2Pac fans can also find two limited-edition GAS trading cards in the Complex Shop.
Fans can purchase 2Pac x LA Kings merchandise online via Interscope, the Team LA Store and 2Pac’s official website.
