Adidas’ full-year 2024 earnings call on Wednesday included a sneak peek at what appears to be NBA star Anthony Edwards’ upcoming second signature shoe with the brand, the Adidas AE 2.
Early in the call, as Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden talked about the brand’s product pipeline, the live webcast flashed partially obscured images of new Adidas shoes. Among them was the sneaker pictured here, which features Edwards’ Adidas logo clearly visible on the tongue. Based on Complex’s understanding of the design, which is scheduled to release later in 2025, the image is of the AE 2.
The vignetted preview shows the shoe in an orange colorway reminiscent of the peach-themed one that Edwards’ first shoe, the AE 1, debuted in.
Adidas declined to comment on whether the image from its webcast was in fact the AE 2. Neither the brand nor Edwards have given any other indication about what the sneaker will look like.
Gulden did not reference the AE 2 image in his prepared remarks and made no direct mention of Edwards’ successful Adidas signature line during the call. The CEO did say that while basketball is the most difficult category for Adidas, it’s headed in the right direction thanks to its roster of athletes, design direction, price points, and centering of the basketball business out of Adidas’ Los Angeles office.
“We clearly see that we are finally beginning to get better results,” Gulden said.
