The Nike Baltoro boot, a hiking model from 1990 that arrived at the advent of Nike’s outdoorsy All Conditions Gear line, is coming back this year, sneaker industry sources tell Complex. Streetwear mainstay and longtime Nike collaborator Stussy will reintroduce the Baltoro High via multiple collaborations, which will be followed by inline versions of the retro shoe.
Nike did not respond to a request for comment on the upcoming Baltoros—the brand usually does not acknowledge product leaks. The photo shown here is of the original colorways; no images of this year’s Baltoros have leaked.
The Stussy x Nike Baltoro Highs are expected to release as part of Nike’s Fall 2025 collection, which would put their arrival between July and September, but their release date is subject to change.
A Nike footwear catalog for its Spring 1990 season described the Baltoro High as having an upper made of waxed split leather with a two-color rubber support saddle and durable backed mini-mesh. Per the catalog, the first Baltoro used an EVA midsole and heel block, a polyurethane heel plug, a reinforcing steel shank, and solid rubber lugs on the outsole. An old REI ad put the shoe’s original price at $80.
This year’s Baltoro reissue won’t be the first one—Nike brought the shoe back for a retro run before, starting in 2005. In that era, the Baltoro was dressed in loud, over-the-top colorways that upped the ante on the already colorful palettes of the originals.
While Nike’s not said anything about bringing the Baltoro back this year, it might have quietly telegraphed the move earlier this week on Fortnite, via the battle royale game’s “kicks” collection of character wearables. On Sunday, Nike released a virtual version of the Baltoro that Fortnite players can purchase and wear in the game.
