You know, I’ve done no Patagonia-type shit this past year. No fly-fishing or climbing. Not even any camping or skiing. Since moving to New York and selling my car, I’ve become a talk-about-it outdoorsman. My Danner boots don’t see trails these days; they come out when the walk to the dive bar is a bit too snowy. Reader, I want you to make up for my lost year. Shop the incredible Patagonia sale, and then go do real Patagonia shit over Presidents’ Day weekend … weather permitting.
Or just treat it as the closing of winter and a chance to refresh with spring gear. To get you started, here are my three favorite deals and what you should do with them. First, a Down Sweater in this beautiful Seabird Grey. Someone on the West Coast buy this and hit a trail in or around Big Sur, the most beautiful stretch of coast I’ve ever seen. Bonus points if you take binoculars for actual seabird identification. Second, a Retro-X fleece in this marled Forge Grey. Someone on the East Coast where it’s not freezing anymore should wear this camping and mourn the Snow Peak Takibi that’s collecting dust in my closet. Lastly, that Powder Town jacket and liner. Someone out west please just take this thing on the slopes. It deserves more than the East Coast runs near me could ever give it.
Beyond that, there’s plenty more for you to look through. There’s Better Sweater and Fjord flannel deals for my fellow city slickers. There are some nice deals on the old R1 fleece models, which are wonderful mid-layers for hiking, climbing, and cold-weather fishing. (The company actually just redid the R1 line, if you want to pay full-price for the cutting edge.) And there are plenty of other Web Specials hitting the site as the season winds down. Shop the full selection or scroll here for my picks. All you have to do is promise me you’ll actually take this stuff outside and beat it up. That’s what all these clothes were made for.
