Samuel Ross says a “shared belief” about accessibility is at the core of a new joint venture with Zara, announced Monday.

Set to launch early next year, SAMUEL ROSS_ACCESS Engineered by Zara sees the Inditex-owned Spanish fashion company bringing its “manufacturing capabilities and domain expertise” together with Ross’ proven artistic perspective and larger ethos. In a statement, Ross, whose artistic journey has thus far resulted in multiple collaborations with the late Virgil Abloh and the 2015 launch of his A-COLD-WALL* brand, a “synergy” has been established between himself and the Zara team. This symbiosis, Ross added, is “focused on developing expressions of strength, utility, and freedom, through leisure.”

Per press notes, the larger SR_A Engineered by Zara experience will play out over a period of several years. In addition to the creation of “durable clothing systems and core garments,” the venture will also include installations and presentations in select cities around the world.

“We have established a synergy, that is focused on developing expressions of strength, utility, and freedom, through leisure,” Ross, who sold his majority stake in A-COLD-WALL* in September of last year, added.

As for that “shared belief,” Ross puts it this way: “We want to make these principles accessible to the global creative community and with time broader humanity.”

This decidedly art-forward, daringly optimistic vision is in line with Ross’ ever-growing history of design feats. The Zara venture’s announcement is preceded by previous SR_A partnerships with Nike, Apple, and LVMH.

Last summer, Ross and SR_A were enlisted for a new take on Beats’ Studio Pro headphones.
