Lil Poppa’s family is calling on the public to help them track down a Goyard bag and jewelry they say has been missing since the “Love & War” artist’s death.
In a statement shared to Instagram, Poppa’s sister, Orieon, said the belongings in question went missing from a Hilton hotel parking lot in the Atlanta area. As previously reported, Poppa, born Janarious Mykel Wheeler, died by suicide in February, with subsequent reports revealing he was believed to have been involved in a single-car accident before making his way to the hotel’s parking lot. Poppa, 25, then shot himself in the head.
“We are asking for the public’s help and attention regarding something very important to us,” Orieon said in an IG post shared on Sunday (March 29). “On the day of Lil Poppa’s passing, he had his jewelry secured in his Goyard bag. On that day, the jewelry and the bag has gone missing – and the family still has NO answers.”
The statement continued: “This incident took place in the parking lot of the Hilton Hotel off 285 & Virginia Ave in Atlanta, GA. The family has reached out and asked questions to South Metro Towing on Moreland Ave, Hapeville Police – but there has been no clear information or resolution. We are simply seeking the truth and accountability. If anyone has any information, no matter how small it may seem, PLEASE come forward. … The family deserves answers!”
In a statement shared after initial reports of Poppa’s death, reps for CMG, a Memphis-based label founded by Yo Gotti, said they were “stunned and devastated” by the news. Poppa, notably, signed with the label in 2022, ultimately releasing several projects under the banner.
In commemoration of the CMG deal, Poppa and Gotti united for the track “H Spot.”
