Harry Styles is a runner. A proper runner who competes in proper competitions under the alias “Sted Sarandos.” The 32-year-old musician finished the Berlin Marathon in just under three hours, landing him in the top 5 percent of racers. He’s pretty damn fast, and so it makes sense that Styles is on the latest cover of Runner’s World, the magazine dedicated to helping people smash their PBs.
The cover shoot, captured by Laura Jane Coulson and dressed by Styles’s long-term stylist Harry Lambert, sees Styles showcasing his running chops in a series of athletic fits. While there’s lots of tattoo flashing and topless pictures, he also sports Nike Alphafly 3 racing shoes (the same ones he wears for his marathons), Nike ZoomX sneaks, wraparound visor-style sunnies, a Donald Duck racing cap, and teeny-tiny short shorts. One shot sees him having an ice bath. It’s what you might expect from a running magazine (except, perhaps, for the cap).
What’s different, though, is that Styles seems to be teasing his own performance merchandise. In one shot, the “As It Was” singer poses in a white, blue, and pink track jacket from his brand, Pleasing, along with matching pants. Is this a first look at the kind of gear Styles will be releasing and, likely, running more marathons in? It wouldn’t be surprising. While Pleasing started as a cosmetics brand focusing on nail polish, it has since ventured into different areas and is now branded as a lifestyle brand, offering T-shirts, caps, tote bags, and fragrances. There have even been sex toys. So running gear isn’t entirely out of left field, especially considering that Styles incorporates a casual 10K into his lifestyle.
While it’s not known if we’re simply grasping at straws in the hope that we too can run in Pleasing gear, it’s definitely something we’d jump on, especially if it helps us bag a sub-3:00. If you’re reading this, Harry Styles, drop the gear already!
