Jenna Ortega and Jennifer Aniston don’t share an aesthetic, but they both know a great look when they see one. During recent outings on opposite coasts, the 23-year-old Wednesday star and 56-year-old Morning Show icon had similar ideas about dressing for chilly weather, embracing two prominent fall-winter 2025 trends in the process by pairing cuffed denim with a black wool coat.
On November 11, Ortega stepped out in New York City wearing a glamorously slouchy take on the combination, which starred an oversized robe coat that extended past her gloved hands. In fact, the outer layer almost completely shrouded her grey turtleneck and wide-leg jeans to the point where you could only see her denim’s oversized stiff cuffs, which themselves engulfed her platform boots.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston proved following trends doesn’t have to look trendy during her latest outing with boyfriend Jim Curtis. On November 14, Aniston and Curtis met up with her longtime stylist, Jamie Mizrahi, and her husband for a double date night at Pace Restaraunt in Los Angeles. It’s unclear if Aniston sent pics of her rainy-day look to Mizrahi ahead of dinner, but we’re sure the fashion expert approved of Anniston’s classic ensemble.
For her part, Aniston leaned into ’90s silhouettes and accessories, pairing a beltless wool coat with a pair of cuffed cigarette jeans. She finished off the look with a simple black top and white sneakers, which feels like a brave move during a rare Los Angeles rain storm. But hey, they matched her hypnotist boyfriend’s white sneakers, which he paired with espresso trousers and a black henley. You can see the photos here.
While a black wool coat has long been considered a staple piece in any capsule wardrobe, it’s recently ascended to the top choice among celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter, Kendall Jenner, Jennifer Lawrence, and more. Meanwhile, the cuffed denim trend spans across styles and silhouettes, bridging the (sometimes generational) divide between fans of wide-leg denim and slimmer ‘90s fits. Clearly, the combination is a sartorial no-brainer for winter 2025.
