Nearly a year has passed since Nike and Hyperice unveiled the Hyperboot, and now their innovative recovery boot is finally hitting retailers.

As revealed last summer, the collaborative Hyperboot is designed to help athletes accelerate warmup and cooldown while on the go. How this works is Nike leverages the dynamic air-compression system from Hyperice’s Normatec boots and transforms it into a high-top shoe. Unlike the Normatecs, the Hyperboot also has heating capabilities via its HyperHeat tech, in addition to the compression, which are both controlled by the buttons on the heel of the midsole.

“Athlete insight is at the center of everything we do, and while we’ve long known that recovery is an important part of any athlete’s journey, we’re hearing from athletes that the concept of ‘pre-covery’ is equally as important,” Tobie Hatfield, Nike’s senior director of athlete innovation, said. “The Hyperboot helps get the body ready for activity, whether you’re playing for a title or you’re on your feet a lot at work.”

The Hyperice x Nike Hyperboot releases on May 17 in North America at Nike.com, Hyperice.com, and at select retailers for $899. A global launch is scheduled to take place later this year.
