Thuma was a strange proposition for this list because it doesn’t have a luxury price point, and we didn’t necessarily view it as a luxury brand at first. Anytime there is upcycled wood on the menu, I’d be skeptical. But the biggest praise we can give Thuma is that it’s always wowed us in person. We’ve awarded the brand in our 2023 and 2024 Home Awards because the product is just that good.

The platform bed frame that made it famous still rocks, but there’s so much more to Thuma now. Nowadays, the company has expanded to a range of easy-to-assemble furniture—like dressers, side tables, and multipurpose storage—in tasteful woods. If you like simple wood furnishings and a minimalist aesthetic, Thuma is our pick.

One note, though. Everything Thuma makes is pretty low-slung. This bed, nightstands, and dressers are all short. If you’re home has low ceilings or you’re in a city apartment, that helps add some height to the space. If you have a grander setup—either with large windows or a high ceiling—I would skip Thuma for something like Jenni Kayne Home, which you’ll see next.
